Hire a tinnie.
Drop the pots.
Bring home muddies.
Self-drive tinnies and fully rigged crab pot kits from the old boat shed on Cabbage Tree Creek. No boat licence needed — just a 15-minute briefing and a decent esky.
Crabbing runs on the tide, not the clock.
Muddies walk out of the mangroves to feed as the water pushes back in. Set your pots on the run-in and pull them two to three hours later. Here's today's water at the shed.
We'll tell you the best launch time for pots.
Indicative only. For anything that matters, check Maritime Safety Queensland's official tide tables for Brisbane Bar. We'll also text you the best launch time when you book.
Simple prices, hung on the shed wall.
Every hire includes fuel, life jackets, a laminated creek map with the marine park zones marked, and a hose-down when you're back. All prices in AUD.
Timed to the tide, start to finish.
When you book, we work backwards from low tide and tell you when to turn up. Here's a typical morning with a 7:40am low.
Check in at the shed
Coffee's on. Fifteen-minute briefing: the motor, the channel markers, the green zones and the crab rules. You sign the hire form and off you go.
Run up the creek
Idle out past the yacht club and into the mangrove edges where the banks drop away. Bec's map has the spots locals have potted for fifty years.
Pots in at the bottom
Drop four pots in a line along the drop-off, a boat length apart. Then go chase whiting on the flats or cruise up to the Shorncliffe pier.
Pull 'em up
Two-plus hours of run-in tide later, haul in. Gauge every crab, keep the big bucks and send the jennies and the little ones home.
Back to the shed
We hose the boat down, you keep the muddies. On The Lot, we'll steam them on the pontoon while you wash your hands.

Eight tinnies. Every one has a name.
They're 3.85m open aluminium boats with new four-stroke outboards: stable, shallow-drafted and almost impossible to get wrong. The names came from the regulars.

There's a visitor book on the counter by the bait freezer. These are copied straight out of it, spelling and all.
"Never driven a boat in my life. Bec had us confident in 15 min. Four bucks in the first pull — kids lost their minds."
"Took my dad out for his 70th. He hasn't potted since the '80s. Cooked them on the pontoon. Best morning we've had in years."
"Showed up at the wrong time, Bec rang us the night before to say come an hour earlier for the tide. Legend. 6 keepers."
Grab a tinnie before the weekend fills up.
Saturdays on a morning low book out two weeks ahead. Tell us your date and we'll match it to the tide.
